For thousands of years the ubiquitous ceramic medium has shaped civilisations in as many ways as it has purposes. Historically this medium has provided basic comforts and objects with which to work and live. Although clay is still very much present in our contemporary lives, the pragmatic association is distanced, effectively diverting our emotional attachment to the medium. This shift has allowed the development of an analytical relationship granting various interpretations of the ceramic medium.
Since I began working with clay I have been fascinated by its layered and often contradictory nature. My work explores the specific qualities inherent to the ceramic medium which ultimately questions our emotional and spiritual relationship to the physical world.
